Gota Fría in Vega Baja del Segura, Spain
17 September, 2019
This week we will be sharing stories from people who have suffered the consequences of ‘Gota Fría (DANA)’ in southeast Spain.
The storms in Vega Baja del Segura are an annual meteorological phenomenon, but they have been particularly fierce this Fall turning fields into lakes and roads into surging rivers of mud that sweep away everything in their path. The recent storms have delivered some of the heaviest rainfall in years and have claimed the lives of six people.
Our partner, Jordi Jon Pardo, has traveled to Orihuela to cover the events.
