50 años de desmemoria
50 años de desmemoria is on the move. After receiving the BBK Award at the Basque Dok Festival 2025, Jordi Jon’s project on the traces of dictatorship is now arriving at BIC Ezkerraldea, a cultural space located on the left bank of the Nervión, where the city’s industrial past remains very present.
In this former factory turned civic hub, his work feels right at home. Over the last two decades, Jordi Jon has combined archival research and fieldwork to follow the regime’s ecological and economic impact (Eroding Franco) and to revisit overlooked episodes of the Civil War (Reimagining: The Spanish Civil War). Together, these pieces examine how landscapes can conceal, preserve, and sometimes reveal history.
Inauguration: 21 November, 18:30
Venue: BIC Ezkerraldea, Barakaldo
Dates: 21 November – 20 December
Free entry & you’re invited.
The exhibition invites us to pay attention to what we’ve learned not to notice in a country shaped by extraction, conflict, and constant change.
